Greene County Regional Water and the South Greene Water Corporation will switch from chloramine to free chlorine on April 1, 2024.
The County conducts this process in conjunction with other communities in the area, as mandated by State and Federal regulatory agencies.
As part of this process, the water distribution system will be flushed.
Throughout this process, the water will remain safe to drink; however, some consumers may notice a slight chlorine taste or odor.
We encourage customers to check their water for discoloration before washing white clothing. If the water appears discolored, try flushing your household lines by running water through all household faucets for a few minutes. If flushing fails to clear the water, please contact the Greene County Water Department at 252-747-2429, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for further assistance.
