Greene County Government is proud to recognize Ray Holloman, our Veterans Services Officer, for his outstanding service to the veterans and families of our community.
Ray was presented today with an American flag that was flown over the United States Capitol. The flag was presented at the Greene County Board of Commissioners meeting by The Honorable Don Davis, United States Representative for North Carolina’s First Congressional District. Ray received this flag in honor of his recent recognition as Citizen of the Year at the Greene County Boys and Girls Club Annual Dinner.
Ray’s work with veterans in Greene County is unmatched. He assists with benefits, health care, and retirement, and he does it with patience and respect. This past year he went even further. When a family reached out about honoring a fallen soldier from World War Two, Ray worked with Veterans Affairs, Farmville Funeral Home, and the Town of Walstonburg to secure a headstone, install it at no cost, and help plan a full funeral service for Warrant Officer John Henry Bundy. After eighty years, this soldier finally received the recognition he deserved, and Ray made that possible.
We congratulate Ray Holloman on this well-deserved honor and thank him for his remarkable service to Greene County. Our county is better because he calls it home.
