NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Greene County Board of Commissioners
The Greene County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to receive public comment on a proposed sale and redevelopment of county-owned property located in the Interstate 587 Business Park at 1 Capital Drive, Walstonburg, NC.
The hearing will be held on Monday, April 21 at 6:00 PM in the Commissioners Chambers at the Greene County Operations Center, located at 312 SE Second Street, Snow Hill, NC.
The County proposes to sell approximately 46 acres of land in the Business Park to support the development of new residential housing. The proposed project would create approximately 35 estate-sized single-family lots. The sale will follow the upset bid process pursuant to N.C.G.S. Section 160A 269.
Any offer must include a plan to build new homes on the property and meet certain expectations. This includes making a meaningful investment in construction, completing the homes within a reasonable timeframe, and following development standards that ensure the homes are well built and intended for residential use. The County intends for the property to be developed with high quality, site constructed homes. Mobile homes and similar factory built structures will not be allowed as part of the residential development.
The property will be conveyed with conditions, including a right of reentry for the County if the development does not move forward as agreed.
