The Greene County Government is proud to announce a $50,000 grant award from the North Carolina Animal Shelter Support Fund aimed at enhancing the Greene County Animal Shelter. This grant, facilitated by the Animal Welfare Section of the Veterinary Division of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, will fund upgrades to the shelter’s fencing, flooring, and painting, aligning with the North Carolina Animal Welfare Act.

Chairman Bennie Heath expressed gratitude, stating, “We are deeply thankful for this grant and the trust placed in us by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. I also want to acknowledge our county staff’s hard work and dedication, whose commitment to animal services made this achievement possible. We are committed to utilizing these funds to upgrade our animal shelter.”
