Today, during the Greene County Board of Commissioners meeting, Robert L. Taylor, Jr. (Bobby) and Derek Burress were officially sworn into office. The Honorable Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Imelda Pate administered the oath of office, with both commissioners surrounded by their families for the ceremonial occasion.
Following the swearing-in, the Board held its annual leadership elections. Bennie Heath was elected Chairman, and Jerry Jones was elected Vice Chairman.
During the meeting, the Board approved several important items, including:
- A $45,000 Economic Development Strategic Grant to support local business growth and investment.
- The 2025 holiday schedule for county operations.
- A change to the regular meeting time for the Board’s third Monday meeting, which will begin at 6:00 PM starting in 2025.
