Snow Hill, NC – April 15, 2025 — Greene County has been awarded $1,892,976 through the State of North Carolina’s Completing Access to Broadband (CAB) Program to bring high-speed internet to 637 unserved homes and businesses. This important project is part of the County’s continued commitment to making sure every resident, no matter where they live, has access to reliable broadband service.
The awarded project will be carried out by Connect Holding II, LLC (Brightspeed), which will install a future-ready fiber network that will reach almost 95 percent of the eligible unserved areas in the county. The new service will connect 531 homes and 106 businesses with fast and dependable internet, including affordable options for families and small businesses.
Construction is expected to be completed by December 2026. After the project is complete, Brightspeed will keep the network up and running and continue offering service for at least three years.
