If you have a water emergency or need to report a leak after normal working hours, call the Greene County Communications Center at 252-747-8000 and they will contact our Water Department on-call staff.
Greene County Regional Water System
The Public Works Department manages the Greene County Regional Water System. The water system contains:
- 3,700 customers
- 9 wells
- Three (3) 500,000 gallon elevated storage tanks.
- 312 miles of distribution lines

Greene County Solid Waste Services
The Public Works Department provides solid waste and recycling services to county residents through the operation of six (6) convenience centers and a construction and demolition debris landfill. The convenience centers operate 8:00am until 6:00pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The landfill operates from 8:00am until 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and 8:00am until 12:00pm on Saturday.
