The Greene County Board of Commissioners are proud to formally recognize September 21, 2024, as Bob Aiken Day, in honor of the 100th birthday of Robert P. Aiken, Jr. This special designation is a tribute to Bob’s lifetime of contributions to the citizens of Snow Hill and Greene County. For nearly a century, Bob has exemplified the values of service, leadership, and kindness, touching countless lives along the way.
A Lifetime Rooted in Service and Community
Born and raised in Snow Hill, Bob Aiken’s life has been one of purpose and commitment. After his education at NC State University and Kings Business College, Bob returned home in 1945 to work alongside his father at Aiken Cash Supply Co. It was here that he discovered his passion for photography, which blossomed into a career that has spanned more than seven decades. Through Bob Aiken Photography, Bob has captured the moments and memories that define our community, preserving them for future generations.
But Bob’s contributions extend far beyond the lens of a camera. As a lifelong member of Calvary Memorial United Methodist Church, Bob has served with humility and dedication, lending his voice to the choir and offering his leadership on countless committees. His commitment to the youth of our community was evident in his many years as Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 74, where he guided young men, instilling in them the values of loyalty, trustworthiness, and respect.
A Legacy of Leadership and Love
Bob Aiken has been more than a community leader—he has been a beacon of what it means to serve with heart and integrity. Whether the Treasurer of the General and School Funds or an active leader in regional political campaigns, Bob has always stepped forward to make a difference.
His dedication to his family has been just as steadfast. Married to Seroba Anderson for 64 years, Bob raised three children, and today, he is the proud patriarch of a family that includes five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with another on the way. His love and devotion to his family have always been at the core of who he is.
A Day to Celebrate and Reflect
On this special day, we celebrate Bob Aiken’s 100 years of life and honor his incredible legacy of service to Greene County. His contributions, both big and small, have shaped the lives of many and will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
Today, we not only wish Bob a very happy birthday but also extend our deepest gratitude for his lifetime of dedication, leadership, and love. His story reminds us all of the power of service, the impact of kindness, and the importance of community.
Happy 100th Birthday, Bob Aiken!
May your legacy continue to inspire and uplift the people of Greene County for many years to come.
