Greene County has been designated by the State of North Carolina as being on of 42 counties currently experiencing extreme drought conditions.
As a result, Greene County Regional Water System is implementing Voluntary Water Restrictions. All water users are asked to reduce their normal water usage by 10%.
We encourage all customers to practice water conservation and improve water use efficiency by minimizing non-essential water use. Conservation measures include:
- Limiting landscape irrigation to a maximum of 1 inch of water per week.
- Preventing water waste and avoiding watering of impervious surfaces such as driveways, sidewalks, and streets.
- Washing only full loads of clothes and dishes.
- Using spring-loaded shutoff nozzles on garden hoses.
- Identifying and repairing water leaks promptly.
- Reduce water use when washing vehicles.
Your cooperation is appreciated as we work together to conserve our water resources during these drought conditions. If you have any questions, please contact the Greene County Water Department at (252) 747-2429.
Thank you for your assistance and continued support.
