Due to recent impacts from Winter Storm Gianna, Greene County Regional Water and the South Greene Water Corporation will switch from chloramine to free chlorine beginning February 3, 2026, and last for the next few days.
Throughout this process, the water will remain safe to drink; however, some customers may notice a temporary chlorine taste or odor.
Customers may also experience cloudy or discolored water during this time.
During today’s county government closure, customers needing assistance should contact the Greene County Communications Center at (252) 747-8000, which will notify on-call Water Department staff.
During normal business hours, the Greene County Water Department can be reached at (252) 747-2429, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
