Pay rate: $12.00  Part-time

Minimum Education & Experience:  Associates Degree in Human Service Field, preferably with older Adults or related field, and/or minimum of three years experience working with Older Adults and/or equivalent combination of education and experience in working with health & wellness programs, program planning, and crafting.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements:  Organizational skills, good public relations skills, ability to work effectively with Older Adults and the General Public.  Ability to manage and conduct activities at the site to include Evidenced Based Health Promotion Programs.  Knowledge and ability to operate business and  marketing programs via computer, perform clerical skills, manage phone system, complete client intake forms for Services through the Division of Aging & Adult Services, operate basic office equipment.  Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for serving Congregate Meals and managing supplies for activities.   Must be physically able to teach exercise classes. Possession of a valid NC Driver’s License with reliable transportation.
Training Requirements:   Site operations, Site records, community resources & referrals, food portioning, aging process, fire/disaster evacuation, confidentiality-HIPPA, Greene County Personnel Policies, Meal Site Training through the Division of Aging and Adult Services, Senior Center Policies, Food Safety, Blood Bourne Illness, Adult CPR, AED, & First Aid, Evidenced Based Health Promotion Programs, Safety
Key Duties:
  • Activities and Special Events:  Responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere in the to include setting up activity rooms, decorating, and hosting.  Plan and implement activities to include but not limited to arts & crafts, physical activity, wellness, recreation, socialization, and over all well-being of seniors.  This may include transporting participants on County Vehicles to activities, as directed. As trained, teach evidenced Based Health Promotion Programs which could be training online, virtual, or in person. Individual must be able to pass any post course test requirements for each Evidenced Based Health Program.  Individual must be certified in Adult CPR, AED, & First Aid-can be provided upon employment.  Inventory and order activity supplies and equipment as needed.   Keep accurate records of activity attendance including activity participation check sheets and documents required for Health Promotion Programs.   Promote Senior Games & Silver Arts Participation by providing opportunities for practice,  assistance with registration, transportation to games, and assistance to Senior Games Staff.
  • Senior Meal Program:  As time allows, Assist Meal Site Manager with receiving, distributing, and serving meals according to our policies as time allows.
  • Office:  Assist Meal Site Manager with counting and recording Client Contributions.  Inventory and submit order to Director for Activity Supplies.  Assist with answering phones and completing Information Assistance Contact Logs, assist with the printing and distribution of monthly newsletter, surveys, brochures, and flyers as needed.
  • Volunteers:  May supervise and direct individuals that volunteer at the Senior Center according to Job Descriptions in Volunteer Handbook.
