Heritage Family Health and Wellness $50K Building Reuse Grant for Snow Hill Site Relocation

Governor Roy Cooper announced In April that Heritage Family Health and Wellness, PA, a Family Practice Primary Care company, will receive a grant from the state’s Building Reuse Program. In April, the North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) approved Greene County’s request for $50,000 in funds to support the building reuse of Heritage Family Health and Wellness, PA, relocation to a larger facility in Snow Hill.

The grant will enable Heritage Family Health and Wellness, PA, to move to a larger facility in the same community and offer more comprehensive medical services to the area’s residents. In addition, Heritage Family Health and Wellness will create five jobs and invest $210,000 in the next three (3) years, contributing to the growth of the local Greene County economy.

Secrets Don’t Make Friends: Why Project Names Are Important

Recently announced economic development projects in Greene County go by code names such as Project Haul, Project Family, and Project Hive. While some may question the need for secrecy, there are valid reasons for using code names in economic development. Essentially, code names help companies stay competitive by preventing premature, out-of-context, and sensitive information leaks that could harm investors, competitors, real estate speculators, and current employees.

When a company considers relocating or expanding in Greene County, they are often considering other counties and states as well. Some economic development deals can take years before they are finalized, and releasing company identities too early can have lasting and devastating results for both the company and the prospective local community. However, this doesn’t mean that the community is kept completely in the dark. When there is an offer of financial incentives from Greene County, there is always a public hearing held during a Greene County Board of Commissioners Meeting where project details such as the number of jobs created and average wages, amount of taxable investment, and general company description are revealed.

Using code names for business deals is a common tactic not only in economic development organizations across the nation but also in other industries such as investment banking and the military. The purpose is not to be nefariously secretive but rather to protect both Greene County citizens and the companies involved in the project from unnecessary disruption.

New Registered Businesses in Greene County Receive Welcome Letter

All of us understand the significance of small businesses in driving economic growth and vitality. That’s why we believe the first communication from the county government to a newly formed business should be a warm welcome letter, not a bill. With this in mind, we have developed a welcome letter specifically tailored for newly formed businesses in Greene County.

Our welcome letter serves as a valuable resource, offering essential information, resources of different partners that can help, and facts about our economic development program. It includes details about the various support systems available to small businesses, empowering entrepreneurs with the knowledge they need to succeed. Furthermore, the letter prominently features our contact information, ensuring that assistance is just a phone call or email away.

By initiating this positive and supportive interaction, we aim to establish strong foundations and foster a sense of community among our local entrepreneurs and businesses. Starting off on the right foot is crucial in our collective efforts to cultivate a thriving community. Together, we can nurture a dynamic environment where small businesses can flourish and contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of Greene County.
