The salary range is $47,560 – $73,718, with excellent benefits and generous leave accruals. The qualifications and experience of the candidate determine the starting salary.
General Statement of Duties
Greene County, NC, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Transportation Director to perform responsible managerial, administrative, and supervisory work in planning, developing, and implementing transportation services for the citizens of the County. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing a regional transportation program for the citizens of the County. Work includes supervision of personnel; budget development and projection, including overseeing grant preparation and reporting; monitoring and operating within approved funding; ensuring that services are provided in accordance with eligibility guidelines for various funding sources as appropriate; monitoring continual operations and safety; and maintaining public contact with citizens and service agencies. Independent judgment, initiative, and analytical skills are required in the performance of duties. Work involves extensive public contact with the agency and local and state officials requiring tact, diplomacy, and negotiation skills. Work is performed under the general administrative supervision of the County Manager and oversight by the County Transportation Advisory Board. Work is evaluated through conferences, review of job duties, and feedback from citizens and/or groups served.
Desirable Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in business administration, public administration, transportation planning, or a related field and 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience in transportation planning/management; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license and ability to meet DOT regulations
