Permanent Full Time: 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday

DESCRIPTION

The Adult Services Social Worker is responsible for providing services to adults in Greene County, including casework counseling, supportive services and problem identification in order to formulate and implement the best possible service plan for the client. The worker is assigned cases due to the area of specialty in Adult Services. This workers’ area of responsibility includes working with individuals who may be indigent, aged, disabled, handicapped (mentally, emotionally or physically), developmentally delayed, chronically or terminally ill, abused, neglected, exploited, dependent and at risk. Referrals are received from all sources, including co-workers, self-referral by individuals, family, friends, relative, hospitals, other social workers, mental health, doctors, nurses, home health, law enforcement and others. This worker works independently to provide intake information to assess and evaluate the risk of the individual, the needs of the individual and/or family and determines the available support and resources in the community to help meet client needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or counseling
experience; for four year degree in a human service field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester
hours in courses related to social work or counseling and two years of social work or counseling experience; or
graduation from a four year college or university and three years of experience in rehabilitation counseling,
pastoral counseling or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework,
group work or community organization or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Formal
education in the area of social work, sociology or psychology most often will provide the strongest base for
entry into this position. An active internship and/or life experience working with older and/or disabled adults
can be a valuable asset to successful employment in this position
