SOCIAL WORKER II – WORK FIRST EMPLOYMENT
Position #: 179-40-053 Salary Grade: 67
Hiring Salary: $39,578 Starting salary may be lower if not fully qualified.
Permanent Full Time: 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday
DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to assist Work First participants in developing and implementing employment plans that will lead to the program goal of self-sufficiency. This worker will work closely with each client from initial assessment through post-termination from Work First Cash. The worker will assist clients with developing a realistic goal for sufficiency and provide support and guidance to realize that goal. This worker must be able to recognize barriers to the employment plan and be knowledgeable of resources available to overcome barriers. The worker must coordinate with the Work First team and many other community agencies to ensure services are available to Work First participants and to monitor their progress. This position will also assist eligible families in coping with the high cost of child care and to assure that their children receive quality care, protection and developmental experience by determining and re-determining eligibility for child day care services in the Subsidized Child Care Program.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work or counseling experience; or four year degree in a human service field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and two years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and three years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human services field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work, or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Formal education in the area of social work, sociology or psychology most often provides the strongest base for entry into this position.
