This Rosenwald School was built in 1925 and served the entire African American population as the first High School.
The historic "Snow Hill Colored School" sits on 5.6 acres next to Lenoir Community College's Workforce Development Center, which houses the world reknown South Greene Gym. The school embodies the pivotal changes in education for African Americans and in our State.
The Rosenwald and Rosenwald (South Greene) Memorial Ball field are both Historic Sites. This facility is not open to the public.
We have one other Rosenwald School on the National Register of Historic Places which is, Zachariah School which houses a Church.
